Uninstall modules

You can add modules to your Drupal 8 site if the update module is active... Modules you don't want to use any more can not be set unactive, like in Drupal 7. The reason is that unactive modules can leave something behind in the database. You have to uninstall them. In Drupal 7 this was an option. In Drupal 8 it is no longer an option...

The checkboxes can not be set unactive any more..

If you can not resist... There is a module: Disable Modules that does what you could do in Drupal 7...
